Sunflower

Sunflower standing tall against the sky
Even in a rainstorm he's standing by
Nothing's gonna break his back

I remember the first day starting out
one hand on my chest the other to the sky
I was making promises to anyone who was listening
mostly to myself
I couldn't tell you where it started to fail
watching my decisions go crashing around me
I was making stories up for anyone who was listening
almost believed them myself
funny how we can fool ourselves
putting flesh on the bones of our lies
in the end we can hardly tell
the fictions from our life
I remember a girl that I used to know
Maybe we got together a couple of times
started making promises not thinking of the consequence
And now here I am by myself.
funny how we can fool ourselves
putting flesh on the bones of our lies
in the end we can hardly tell
the fictions from our life
now isn't it funny
I don't think we can right this course
life isn't so sunny
You gotta believe me you gotta believe me
I remember a friend we had a falling out
there was nothing to do but move on down the line
I guess we had enough of listening to our lies
now I just keep them to myself
funny how we can fool ourselves
putting flesh on the bones of our lies
in the end we can hardly tell
the fictions from our life

Paper Moon
03:01
|
|||
There was a tear in the paper moon above
Love was running circles 'round the city
The heat pipe in the room was deafening
You and I were wrestling in the sheets again
I think I've heard that somewhere else
A song that was written about you and I
We've got so many differences
But just for tonight we lay unified
Oh Oh Oh
Across the skyline the lights are flickering
In the winter air
You walk to the window framed in the moonlight
In your underwear
And just for tonight you belong to me
The alley cats below will serenade
You and I awake until the morning light
Comes tip-toeing through window panes
Softly kisses everything it touches on
Sleepy-eyed we'll find each other
Groping under covers for a little more
Pressing close to one another
Unwilling to let go of the night before
Oh Oh Oh
Nothing is forever we both know that
Let's not fool ourselves
You'll walk out of my door one gray morning
And won't come back again
And that old paper moon will tear a little more

Begonias
02:11
|
|||
We were walking down the road minding our own business
when the man came to take you away from me
They were making allegations that just couldn't be true
they were blaming you for things you wouldn't do
I was walking back to town
my nose was filled with begonias
and the scent was imprinted in my memory
I was pleading my case to get you free
couldn't make them see that you belonged to me
All along the docks on the dark side of this town
I was drinking door to door until they cut me loose
You were sitting in the jailhouse watching days go by
while the noose got tied on your way to die
It was a day like today when the crickets filled the evening
and the sweet smell of begonias washed this whole town clean
I was standing by the courthouse watching you swing in the air
when they kicked the chair and people stood and stared

The Hurricane
02:07
|
|||
Everybody's trying to finish us
but here we are stuck straight in the middle
everyone knows we've got challenges
but we're always hiding them one hand to the other
oh, is that the meaning of a marriage
oh, is it enough to simply tell ourselves we're doing fine
when we're not
but right from the beginning, you and I
We looked straight in the eye of the hurricane
packed our bags - took whatever we could carry
made our way guided by our hands
over the hill toward the horizon
You don't know how much I bleed for you
And I've been bleeding all along
We danced all around the table at dinner time
Hand in hand with the children between us
Made a life with a simple plan
To never look back at the things that could take us down
You don't know how much I bleed for you
And I've been bleeding all along
You don't know how much I bleed for you
And I've been bleeding all along

Napoleon et Josephine
02:11
|
|||
Josephine, you were the girl for me
I was at war with the world and nobody had told me
Oh, how I wish somebody had told me
Josephine, I couldn't make you see
I was feeling so small, I was losing myself
How I wish you could see me, but you wouldn't see me
Oh, my Josephine
Josephine, I sing a sadder tune
A broken heart calls out to the moon
It's a cry in the night that you just won't hear anymore
Somewhere in me this love will die
While you are moving on, oh Josephine
You know I'm still in love with you

Peter Fedofsky Seattle, Washington
Well, I'm in love with The Beatles, Brian Wilson, Nilsson, early Bee Gees, oh, I love love solo McCartney and The Zombies
and etc. I record in my house and don't pay attention to having awesome gear or making everything picture perfect. I just want it to be 1965 again, so no need to get hyper about using the latest doo-dad or production flim-flam.
Let's enjoy silly pop music together, shall we?
